Retrospective US Presidential Election Results Thread

You don't vote against a guy because you're afraid he might die in office.

Given his advanced age and abysmal choice of running mate, I could see more than a few undecided voters shying away from the GOP in OTL 2008 for fear of getting more than they bargained for, so to speak.

Actually the President before 1928 was Burton Kendall Wheeler. La Follette died in office.

Ah, good catch. Forgot about that. Thanks.

Congrats to Rufus King for winning the 1816 election over OTL winner James Monroe. And congrats to Al Smith for his victory in the 1928 election, defeating Herbert Hoover, the electee of OTL that year. The prosperity of the 1920s is sure to continue while Smith is in office.

The 1820 and 1932 Retrospective US Presidential Elections are now up, so get voting!

That is great. Smith actually got a smaller % of votes on AH.com yet he won, since the left-wing socialist vote broke into a number of factions. They need Debs again.

As mentioned by Plumber on the 1932 topic, Lyndon LaRouche should be on the ballot in 1976 when we get to that.

Edit: Errrr... Wrong topic I suppose.

1976 will indeed have the most candidates of any retrospective election here, but there will be only nine, not ten. Lyndon LaRouche received 40,018 votes out of a total of 81,531,584 votes. This is 0.049%, so he falls just short of the cutoff.

Oh, put him in anyway, its ridiculous, just to omit someone just one hundredth percent short.

Damnit AH.Com! If you had elected Smith in 1928, you would have got a Republican in 1932, which is about the last thing America needed at that time.

Relax. Roosevelt will win handily in his four runs.

If he doesn't I'll be very disappointed.

What? FDR is slaughtering in the 1932 election, and will do so for the next few elections.

Yeah, FDR has a lot of things going for him on AH.com. First, he was President when the Depression ended, secondly he was a Roosevelt, and thus related to a badass, and thirdly, he was a badass himself.
