Retrospective US Presidential Election: 1912

Vote in the 1912 Retrospective US Presidential Election!

  • Total voters
    153
  • Poll closed .
I plan to run through every US presidential election, two per week. The 28 elections from 1789-1896 will be run simultaneously with the 28 elections from 1900-2008. Be sure to vote in each election!

For 1789-1800, I will include in the poll everyone who received at least 5% of the electoral vote. From 1804-2008, I will include everyone who received at least 0.05% of the popular vote. Results for each election will be posted on the dedicated Retrospective US Presidential Election Results Thread (here) and compared to the actual results. The thread for general project discussion is here.

Here's the link to the 1800 election.

Banned
Theodore Roosevelt, but really only because I like the Progressive platform and since he's a New Yorker.

Ah, shit. I meant to pick Roosevelt, and picked Taft. God damn it. It's like November 7th, 2000 all over again.

I have the utmost respect for Taft, he doesn't grandstand like Teddy or moralise like Wilson. I would vote for him.

''Ripsaw, ripsaw, ripsaw, bang! We belong to the Gene Debs' gang. Are we Socialists? I should smile! We're Revolutionists all the while.''

Wilson

I voted for Wilson. Two terms, is enough for anybody, and TR's Adminitration seemed to me to have been corrupt toward the end. And, though I am a progressive myself domestically, I don't like TR's warmongering or imperialism. I fear TR would get us in on the Balkan War now in the headlines or war with Germany, and add, wrongly, to our empire.

And, Wilson at least promises progressivism, though his party has been racist and conservative. And, though I usually vote Republican because they are the more progressive party, Taft was not a good President. One term was too much of him.

First choice: Debs

Third choice: Taft
Fourth choice: Wilson
