I give Adams credit for standing up to both popular clamor and his own political party, and thereby avoiding an unnecessary war with France. But it had become obvious by 1800 that Adams lacked the necessary political skill to govern with any degree of effectiveness. His country needed him in 1776, but not 1800.

Doesn't look like Adams is getting another term.
Good. We need to turn out of office everyone who supported the unconstitutional, abominable, pernicious, and dangerous Alien and Sedition Acts; so that their successors will fear the righteous wrath of the people and never do such things again!

It seems Adams is catching up to Jefferson. It's possible that Burr may be "stealing" votes from TJ due to their more similar political stances.

Anyway... Vote!

It seems that the more left leaning members are voting for Burr (which hurts Jefferson).

I'm not so certain of everyone's politics here, but there appears to be at least a smattering of us lefties in the Adams camp too.

A few but more of those who want a stronger more centralized federal government. A fine distinction.

Ah, that's right -- you do the census, so you know about the politics of a lot of folks here. FWIW, I am typically center-left on both social and economic issues.
