The reason I voted for the other Adams is that John Adams was a little too naive for his own good. For the majority of his term his cabinet would rather take orders from Hamilton than from him.

In retrospect, not Adams; he favored the Alien and Sedition Acts.
Nor Jefferson; he's a slaveholder who ruined Haiti by embargoing it.

I ended up voting for Ellsworth.

Good points. I like that Adams opposed the ownership of slaves on principle, but I don't like his support for acts which infringe on freedom of expression. Tough decision. I may end up wasting my vote on a "third-party" candidate or not voting at all. Maybe if the vote ends up tied, I could decide the winner, like the Vice President.

Well, I finally decided on John Adams. It's a close race between him and Jefferson, but there's still over two days left in the election. Let's get those votes in! Also, provide some comments so this thread doesn't keeping falling off the first page of the forum.

We all know about the Alien and Sedition Acts, yet Adams is one lead !

I voted for Adams because I consider slavery to be the greater evil, and I honestly just don't care for Jefferson. I generally support the Federalist platform anyway - strong federal government, national bank, etc.

I'm confused: Why is Jefferson losing?

While a great founding father, he really did not understand the economy (no one did besides Hamilton really). His problem, though, was that he went out of his way to flaunt how little he knew about it.

So this is why Thomas Jefferson would be a terrible president...? How Dare He Openly Admit His Failings!
