I meant to click John Jay, but I accidentally hit Washington. So subtract one from Washington and give it to Jay.

I don't think it matters at this point, its a total landslide.

I voted for Wahington, not out of hero-worshipping, but for the most part I agree with him. I'm sure he'd be turning in his grave if he saw what most of his successors got up to.

The old, popular general around whom all factions can unite seems to be the best way to kick off this Republic. One vote for Independent George Washington from Makemakean! Mr. President, and Mr. President only. :D

John Jay also came to mind as an honorable gentleman. I would vote for him 2nd, so that he could receive the Vice Presidency. John Adams I initially thought to give a cabinet position....but the only positions entertained at the time were Secretary of War (~Defense), of State, and of Treasury. None of those suits his skills well, it seems, so maybe he should remain (at least in 1789) a legislator? A prominent Senator from Massachusetts?

George Washington - 95
John Adams - 9
John Hancock - 9

Oh great. If my knowledge of the Constitution is right, then Adams and Hancock just tied for Vice President. Who's the Senate going to choose?

Well, Adams was the VP in OTL, so maybe him? But this is just the popular vote, not the electoral vote, so there wouldn't necessarily also be a tie in the EC.
