Results of Merging of Cambodia and Vietnam

What would be the result if Cambodia, Champa and Vietnam got merged as a single country?

It depends totally on the time period. In the medieval or Renaissance era, a united peninsula could potentally resist Chinese occupation, while they were united in the 1880's as French Indochina.

So, please specify on the time period.

15th century and the europeans never got interested in south east asia, can indochina unite?

I think the easiest way for this to happen is keep the Khemer empire in tact by having them not convert to Buddhism and therefore have the Emperor's power not decline. From there, you simply need to have them conquer the two Vietnamese states, which can happen I think at any time the Chinese are too weak to impose their influence.

Actually, I'd say your best bet is faster Viet expansion (IDK enough to know hoe you achieve this). The Viets basically practiced ethnic cleansing and settler colonization, as against Champa; the biggest reason Cambodia was so pro-French was because without French intervention, they were next in line.

So a larger Viet state, in time, will just be a larger ethnic Vietnam.

Some people in some forums I talked to said that if there was no European Colonization in South East Asia OTL Cambodia would be a part of Vietnam...

Very much true. About 1/3rd of Vietnam is ex-Cambodian territory that was ethnic Cambodian. Ho Chin Mi City was actually annexed by the Vietnamese in the 1800s from the Cambodian Kingdom which was a semi-dependency of either Thailand or Vietnam at that point(Before Ho Chin Mi City existed obviously). I believe the Thai practiced this as well- Bangkok also used to be ethnic Cambodian, I think. That, or Bangkok was a border town. Essentially, Cambodia is Asia's Hungary. Lost a lot of people and land to others, and was compensated with a pat on the head and a cookie. :p Now, if the Khmer Empire were still, around, things would have been much more interesting.
