"My fellow Americans, today we face an unspeakable tragedy, one that challenges the very fabric of our nation. Earlier today the West Coast came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts, notably resulting in the destruction of California's Golden Gate bridge.

alex-nice-pacrimmatte.jpg

We stand here not just in sorrow, but in solidarity, united against those who seek to do us harm. In moments like these, we are reminded of our resilience as a people, our commitment to liberty, justice, and the rule of law.

We will not be cowed by fear; instead, we will respond with strength and determination. We honor the victims, their families, and the first responders who selflessly rush into danger. Together, we will ensure that our shared values prevail over hatred and division. Search efforts are currently underway to find the perpetrators behind these attacks.

This is a day that will forever stay in the minds of our citizens, but America has stood down our enemies before, and we will do so this time. I'm not sure if it will happen during this term, I'm not sure if it will happen during my time here, but we will bring them to justice and come back a better nation. We are a beacon of hope in the face of darkness, and we will emerge from this dark day with courage and resolve. Thank you. Good night, and God bless America."

How bad was the death toll of the terrorist attack on the Golden Gate Bridge?

uh... ok, this did not go well. In fact I dare say it went fucking horribly

I'm sorry that you guys really didn't like this. I never intended on upsetting anyone with this post. I originally planned this a few months ago as being the biggest political change for the timeline and something that would have resulting in similar shift for pop culture that 9/11 originally had IOTL. I'm honestly not sure how or even if I should continue the fallout from this particular event, especially since my plans for the Spring 2012 update was to involve something secret about [REDACTED] being discovered (before you ask it wasn't going to be their identity or anything revolving around 11/11/11) that would have also might have weird some of you out.

I will be taking a little break from this particular timeline to decide how to move forward with it and if I should retcon this event from it. Again, I deeply apologize to anyone that was offended or upset at this post and I hope that regardless of whatever happens to Restarted With A Mouse or it's storylines, know that there was never any ill will intended.

Just my personal opinion, I don't think having the event itself was the issue, it was the lead in. Obviously, OTL, 9/11 was a huge shock to all, and unexpected, but since you retconned that attack, it may have lead most to believe nothing of that scale would happen in this TL. I would have given a warning a few posts ago that this sort of thing was coming, or put a disclaimer at the top of the specific post like you did with tbe Grammy's post. The idea of the attack is fine, I just don't think you executed it in the best way, if that makes sense?

it's alright, just a bit shocking since nobody saw that coming

I think it’s a good plot twist. Just because 9/11 doesn’t happen ITTL doesn’t mean something similar won’t happen down the road. I think the only thing that I would have changed is giving a warning in advance to indicate something like this would happen, or at least create a spoiler at the beginning giving a heads up.

Originally being conceived in back in the mid 90's, Monsters, Inc would soon turn out to be one of the biggest projects in Pixar's history. The company would end up having to use over 3500 processers and create a fur simulation program in order to accommodate the production. Their hard work would thankfully pay off, as it would once again being another critical and financial hit for the studio.

Pixar would celebrate finishing what they believed to be their toughest challenge yet. Little did they know, what the studio and director Pete Docter would have to face just a few months later.

Oh, @redben12 , since the September 11th Attacks don't happen in Restarted With A Mouse, would Monsters, Inc. have the scene of Harryhausen's restaurant getting blown up by the CDA (which was planned back in OTL before you know what happened) to decontaminate it instead of covering it with a plasma dome? I'm just wondering.

Yes, that scene would still be in the film. Henson and other companies would have no reason to change scenes like those since 9/11 doesn't happen. I'm still debating if it would be better to just eradicate 11/11/11 from the timeline or not. So maybe movies later ITTL will change as a result, depending on what I end up decide to go with on that.

My thoughts exactly. Though it doesn’t have to be a direct reference to the attacks as long as previous posts were put up explaining the path of events and who causes it.
For example my TL - Man’s Best Friend - which last updated a couple months ago, hints at an earlier and deadlier 9/11 occurring. This is explained through a way more successful yet controversial American intervention in Somalia - leading Bid Laden to issue a fatwa earlier and al-Qaeda swimming in Saudi and Emirati finances from the zeitgeist.
