Resources/Help for a Scottish based TL

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows some good resources (preferrably online and free, as I have no cash) that I could use for a Scottish based timeline I'm thinking of trying. Especially historical maps of scotland and northern england.

At the moment, the era I would be needing information for would be between...say, 1285-1300. Yes, a possible PoD I'm thinking of involves William Wallace. Or maybe Alexander III doesn't die in 1286, or the Maid of Norway, his granddaughter Margaret, doesn't die in 1290 is another possible PoD.

I'd also like any help from anyone more versed in Scottish history than I am.

My hopeful focus for the TL, without bringing in any ASB, would be to see if Scotland could somehow have maintained independance from England for longer, or maybe even have grown stronger (possibly during the time of the 100 years war.)

Wikipedia is a good place to start. It's free, has entries for all the kings and other major personalities, and cites other references. Now and then there will be inaccuracies, but most of the time its information is correct.
