Request Maps/Flags Here

I know that the last time I requested a coat of arms, I ghosted the magnanimous individuals who crafted several drafts for me to examine, and I apologize for that; my sudden disappearance stemmed from disappointment with the my imagined design.

Fortunately, I think I have thought things through, and would be grateful if someone took the time to manifest my vision:

A white shield, with these design elements:

The Golden Gate Bridge, perhaps simplified but still distinct, to represent my origin in the Bay Area
A rampant, brown bear to signify my Californian roots
A bell, an allusion to both my home town and to the Philadelphia Bell, as to evoke my political career
A poppy, to simultaneously pay homage to my family's sacrifices in both world wars and to, once again, my home of California

Above the shield, a red Magen David of the same tint as the red star on the Californian flag, to depict my Jewish heritage and to once again reinforce my fidelity to California
To the sides of the shield are a rampant ram and a rampant grizzly.

personnaly, I feel like if the problem was the connection to the monarchy, they would rename it is such a way that it has no connection to modern UK at all. One option could be to name it after a US politician or military leader just like the state of washington. Another would be to rename it after some legendary island like Avalon.

As for the flag, a design could be to drop the english lion but keep the rest with the 2 sets of trees being reinterpreted as the state of alt-nova scotia prospering under the US and the bordure compony, now an actual bordure, changed from canadian white and red to the US red-white and blue.

I like the flag; simple is best.

On the name, it doesn't have to be non-UK. Former provinces retain many of their names, which are named for British people and places, such as Alberta, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, not to mention OTL states like New York, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and the Carolinas. Other states like Louisiana, Florida, Texas, California, New Mexico, and Hawaii also retain pre-US names while states like Montana, Nevada, and Colorado are named using the language of a country that formerly controlled the territory. And most other states derive their names from American Indian language like Massachusetts or are named for the indigenous peoples like Utah. So being named after a place in Britain isn't too much of a problem, it's simply the name PEI currently has explicitly references Prince Edward.

As with the flag, simple is probably best here too. My best point of reference is New York being named for Prince James, the Duke of York without ever mentioning the word prince or the name of James explicitly as prince. Similarly, respecting the island's historical name of PEI while obscuring the explicit monarchical features in its name (and avoiding repetitive names like Saint John/Saint John's and Avalon, as in the Avalon Peninsula in nearby Newfoundland, as well as avoiding unfortunately difficult First Nations names like Epekwitk), New Kent, which I think I've found myself favoring, seems the simplest solution even if it's probably the most different in terms of the island's historical names and the local place names of the Canadian Maritimes.

Or PEI can stay PEI under the State (Commonwealth?) of Nova Scotia. There are already 113 States in this ATL... not that that's stopped me in the past.

All this said, thanks for your input on the name and flag design!

Is there a flag for socialist Arizona? Not communist, socialist.

I tried my best, adding a Rose for the social democrats, but ... meh x3

I could try to make a bigger rose if you want

the rose-in-hand is a good idea although to me it feels more like a party emblem rather than a symbol used to represent the ideology of a given politie. Not that I can really think of a better symbol, social-democratic / socialist polities are not govern under a single ruler system so they don't really have a reason to advertise their particular political outlook the same as an autocratic regime.

You are right, I was a bit confused when he asked for a socialist but not communist arizona flag, so I made it like the flag of a party x3

Well, I was wondering if someone had any other ideas, but if nobody does, you are totally right, it's easy to keep the flag
For postWW1 there's not much that could change short of using the Slavic tricolour with Arms and they weren't that close to Russia at the time.
Having played with flags of the area more can be done premodern/postmediaeval than the 20thC.

Once I seen a current, OTL (late 2010s) map made out of Victoria 2 with rivers. Have anyone seen this and can provide a link?
