Republicans hold onto Senate in 1986

In 1986 OTL the GOP lost control of the Senate. If they had managed to hold on and increased their strength in the House, how would this affect Reagan's final years and the 1988 Presidential race?

Not a lot. Frankly Reagan's Presidency ran out of steam.

Just about the only big things (IIRC) were replacing Volcker with Greenspan at the Fed, tax reform, war on drugs, and immigration reform.

Immigration reform may be effected by more Republicans in Congress. War on Drugs may also be effected.

It could mean Bork gets to the Supreme Court, but that's probably still pretty unlikely.

As for 1988 I don't see that much changing, honestly.
