Republican 2012 Primary Analogues.

Okay, for any of you confused by the title, what this is is a thread exploring analogies to the Republican 2012 Primary Candidates, say Gore wins in 2000 and 2004 and someone like J.C Watts wins in 2008.

2012 Democratic Primary Equivalents.

Mitt Romney: Hillary Clinton (Establishment favourite who doesn't curry much favour with the Radical Wings of the Party)
Ron Paul: Mike Gravel (A Libertarian leaning Democrat who is quite old and gets some attention from the internet) (Russ Feingold also works)
Rick Santorum: ? (A democrat who is very socially liberal but Moderate on economics, any ideas?)
Newt Gingrich: Tom Daschle (An old timer office holder with a lot of old school political tactics) (Maybe Dick Gephardt as well?)
Tim Pawlenty: Martin O'Malley (A boring Governor without all that much to show)
Michele Bachmann: Maxine Waters (A crazy congresswoman who likes to go off on usually incorrect things)
Herman Cain: George Soros (I dunno, a guy with ties to the Party but no actual Political experience)

Please help by giving suggestions and the like.

Well, it is not really about Gore, more like who would be the Democratic equivalents to the 2012 Republican field.

The idea that Rick Santorum was "moderate" on economic policy is laughable. He wanted a national right-to-work law.

Well, he is outside the GOP Mainstream on Welfare and the Minimum Wage as of late, and is talking up some stuff about how the GOP should focus on workers.

Rick Santorum has changed around his political views a lot. In the past, for instance, he enthusiastically endorsed income inequality (here), while describing any attempt at achieving a more equal result as "Marxism." And a few days before he gave that interview suggesting that the minimum wage be raised, he'd went on Morning Joe and criticized the idea of the minimum wage ("Well, you do that, you disincentivize people to hire, and you incentivize them to buy a machine to do what a person can do.") Oddly enough, one interview got far more attention than the other.

Perhaps he's simply taking pointers after Mitt Romney.

Okay, whatever. The thread isn't about a person in particular, just about who would be the Democratic Equivalent of someone in the 2012 Republican Primaries.
