Republic of Dixie

As you probably know, there was a huge debate over states' rights in the 1830's (in America) because of the Tariff of Abominations. It got so bad that South Carolina swore that it was going to secede, if others seceded with it. However, none did. What if, let's say Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee/Mississippi, and Alabama leave and form a country like the Republic of Dixie. What would President Jackson have done? Ignorance? Civil War?

What would Jackson have done? The same thing he did to everyone and everything else he considered an enemy, he would have slaughtered them...

Yep, that's what I thought. Probably an invasion of Charleston, death of J.C. Calhoun, what Jackson basically promised. But, would the South have stood a chance? There is less of an industrial gap between North and South then at the time of the ACW (OTL.

Sure, they could and would have fought back. But they were going up against Andrew Jackson. Easily the most badass president in US history. So yeah, they could have fought, but they wouldn't have won...

So badass a president that he got shot in a duel, stayed on his feet, than killed his shooter. You don't get more badass that that.

1830s, the Southern States wouldn't join the Republic of Dixie.

Opposition to secessionists was very high in North Carolina and the western slaveholding states had a lot of antipathy towards the eastern slaveholders over the price of slaves.

So, SC tries to secede and Andrew Jackson what he wants. Secession is proven wrong earlier.
