Republic of America

July 4 1776. The thirteen colonies signs the declaration of independence. But the new state is not a Federation of 13 States, is a new Republic, not federal, with only a central government.
This new Republic, the Republic of America, wins the Revolutionary War against the England.
What would happen?

A better question is, "How does this happen?" Established in reaction to what the colonists saw as an oppressive colonial regime, both the Articles of Confederation and later Constitution sought to limit the power of government for fear that a powerful central authority would cause the same abuses that the colonies had suffered under the British Crown.

Outside of Hamilton and a few hardcore Federalists, no one wanted a strong central authority. To make this scenario plausible, you need to either change the makeup of the American Framers or make the Articles combust so spectacularly that decentralization is seen as a greater threat than centralization.

You're right. In this scenario the revolution starts only to give to the coloniest the Independence from North America. The Costitution, therefore, is only a Republican Constitution, but not federal, and the only threat that the Constituent Fathers of the new Republic wants to avoid is a New domination. Therefore, new state is an independent Republic, not federalist.
