Some of the Kaiserreich scenario is not the most plausible, but one can at least buy it for the most part.
For those not familiar, here's what happens: Germany "wins" WWI in 1921, after fighting a long campaign against the British across the world following their dual victories over France and Italy. The German Empire, despite its global empire in 1936, didn't pull itself together right after the war; that took well over a decade of work and the collapse of the British Empire in 1925. The French workers call a general strike in 1919, ending the Third Republic and inadvertently creating an exile colonial government in French Africa. The British workers hold a general strike in 1925, well after the war, and successfully seize Great Britain. Spain teeters on a civil war between the Carlists and the Syndicalists. Italy is divided between the propped up papist regime in the north and the revolutionary syndicalist one.
It is not, in general, too offensive to history... except for one thing: America. (Well, okay, renewed Qing too...)
In 1936, America's president is Herbert Hoover. The two party system has broken down, with Huey Long leading the America First party in the South, and John Silas Reed leading the Syndicalist party in the Midwest. Not too bad, someone could justify it, but...
In early 1937, a civil war breaks out. A four way civil war, between Syndicalists in the Midwest, Crypto-Fascists in the South, industrialists on the west coast, and the rightful government everywhere else.
So, changing as little as possible... how could you make this civil war scenario (or a similar one) historically plausible?
