Religion of a Neo Arsacids dynasty

Quick question for you: let’s suppose that the Armenian arsacids recover the Persian/Parthian throne 10 or 20 years after their conversion to Christianity. Doesn’t really matter how,but if you want some background informations let’s suppose that from their kingdom ( with Roman support) they exploited an internal conflict in Persia and joined one faction. So the question is would they try to convert the rest of Persia to Christianity or rejoin the faith of their ancestors?

Well, the Persian throne is probably worth a Fire Temple :p

If the legend of Trdat III’s conversion to Christianity is true, it was at least partially a matter of personal faith. If his family could get away with keeping Christianity as a familial faith but practicing religious tolerance, they probably would, but if it came down to faith versus throne they’ll take the throne.

How much deep was the Christianisation of Armenia at the beginning of the IV century? Was the conversion of the Arsacids to Christianity politically convenient?

Parts of Mesopotamian and even some of southwest Iran had sizeable Christian populations in them. So long as they are tolerant of the Zoroastrians and others (let's not pretend the early Sassanids had religious uniformity) they can probably sit on the throne with a reasonable degree of comfort.

True but wouldn’t conflicts explode (sooner or later) if the Arsacids ( or just the Christian clergy with the tacit support of the throne) try to slowly favour christians until they fell strong enough to have their own version of Thessalonica? Especially if the zoroastrians feel that the Arsacids due to their religious affiliation are too much “Roman” ( assuming that the empire becomes Christian). Sometimes tolerance is not enough in the long run.

Then there's a revolt. Given that revolts were somewhat frequent under the old Parthian Empire I don't think it would be that big of a deal.

Would it be possible to see a second split between Christian Arsacids and Zoroastrian Arsacids? The former ruling in Armenia the latter in Persia/Parthia.
