First, I'd like to say hello to the people of the forums. It's nice to meet you all.

Second, I'd like to discuss the feasibility of two specific World War II scenarios during the year 1944.

1. A bloodier and gorier (but still successful) D-Day for the allies (yeah, yeah, really original, I know).

This scenario may contain a little ASB. Namely, an entire (battle hardened) extra german division of some 10000 men deployed around the Normandy region.

My question is this: if you were the commander of this fictional division, what would you do to try to inflict more casulties to the allied forces compared to those of the OTL?

I want to express that my goal is not to prevent the landings, just make them more difficult (if such thing is possible under these conditions).

2. A more successful Market Garden.

What do you think the allied command could have done differently (without the benefit of our post-war knowledge), to make sure this operation had a greater chance of success? What would be the consequences of things going somewhat better? A shorter war?

Are these scenarios possible at all, or are they just mad rubbish?
