Regarding two WWII POD scenarios (possible ASB?)

First, I'd like to say hello to the people of the forums. It's nice to meet you all.

Second, I'd like to discuss the feasibility of two specific World War II scenarios during the year 1944.

1. A bloodier and gorier (but still successful) D-Day for the allies (yeah, yeah, really original, I know).

This scenario may contain a little ASB. Namely, an entire (battle hardened) extra german division of some 10000 men deployed around the Normandy region.

My question is this: if you were the commander of this fictional division, what would you do to try to inflict more casulties to the allied forces compared to those of the OTL?

I want to express that my goal is not to prevent the landings, just make them more difficult (if such thing is possible under these conditions).

2. A more successful Market Garden.

What do you think the allied command could have done differently (without the benefit of our post-war knowledge), to make sure this operation had a greater chance of success? What would be the consequences of things going somewhat better? A shorter war?

Are these scenarios possible at all, or are they just mad rubbish?

No idea why you're so loosely applying the term "ASB" as both scenarios are most definitely a possibility. As for your second question, I've heard that a successful Market Garden would shorten the war by 6 months.

Maybe more of Germany goes to the allies in regards to market garden?

However that may mean that more of the Balkans go to the soviets
Ie a communist Greece and turkey perhaps?

On top of the op, is it possible that if Market Garden is successful, we see a full Democratic Germany, rather than split? Is it possible for the allies to reach Poland?

I think free Germany is likely
However if they take Poland we may see most of the Balkans dominated by the Russians
Turkey will probs join too

Doing the initial landings south of Arnhem, near the bridge, instead of 5 miles away to the east, would have helped a lot. They could have established a perimeter around the bridge and capture a lot of Arnhem, which would be a lot easier to defend than the area near Oosterbeek where they landed now.

For the bridge at Nijmegen, it may have been possible to land to the north of the bridge, instead of near Groesbeek (again 5 miles away from the bridge) and take the bridgeheads.
