Regarding butterflies

I have certain problems regarding butterflies since I am writing a TL about East Asia and the Pacific with the POD of Arabian Traders and Missionaries converting the people of Luzon to Islam in 1450 voluntarily, versions of this has been posted here - could I delay the effect of butterflies using butterfly nets or I should change things completely on Europe and make it similar to OTL till magellan arrives to the Philippines or everything just changes at the POD.

Depends what POD exactly is and when it happens, but if change happens in Philippines, Europe might change pretty few during next century. But this is just my opinion.

I'm a big fan of only changing things that can be considered as directly affected.
Ie a limited butterfly effect not a "one electron different therefore everything changes" type thing.

Quantum Mechanics has proven that there are no such things as 'hidden variables'; that those random quantum events truly are random.

Therefore, if you replayed the universe WITH NO CHANGES, quantum effects will differ immediately. Things like Brownian motion will see changes within seconds, which means that different sperm will hit any given egg starting seconds after the replay/change, and by minutes later, almost every fertilization will be different,

Thus, within minutes of a PoD, every single person will be different. About half will be of the opposite sex.

The most plausible way is the rigid, everything changes interpretation. But that is much more difficult to write and often having historical figures makes the story more enjoyable. That's why I prefer the idea of the butterflies spreading out from the point of origin. Ultimately this is about writing, and so one can sacrifice plausibility for better writing (up to a certain limit).

Since we are not omniscient, it is usually most narratively expedient to only have changes happen that you can explain.

Therefore, a limited butterfly net works best. It's an acceptable break from (alt) reality.

Remember how long it takes for the changes to be learned about in other parts of the world in days past.
