Refugee Crisis in a Pakistan-India Nuclear War?

For a while in the early 2000s, a nuclear war between India and Pakistan was not seen as unlikely, as result of a military standoff between the two titans over Kashmir. The fear being that that a war between the two would quickly escalate to the usage of nukes, and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's refusal to denounce such an possibility worried many.

What if if a flat out atomic war happened, though? As the most populated area on earth, the South Asian subcontinent engaged in nuclear warfare would be completely dreadful, with the potential of tens of millions dead. And people would want to leave for good reason. It could be the greatest refugee crisis in history, potentially displacing the dozens of times more people than the Arabic one IOTL.

How does the rest of the world react to such a crisis? How many people successfully emigrate to the West, the Middle East, and even East Asia to avoid the terrors of the world's first nuclear war? And how are they treated by their host countries? Would the anti-immigration opposition be even worse due to the numbers or would people be more sympathetic due to the unique status of "nuclear refugees"?

I'm not sure if large numbers of people could walk to the West given the Terrain and distance . East Asia is no given the large distance and the Terrain.

If similar numbers to Syrian Crisis arrived. it would be same or worse with increased numbers. Given this is just after 9/11 I imagine there would be more hostility to Pakistanis than Indians.

Given that the Islamophobic panic after 9/11 extended to non-Muslim people, such as Sikhs and Christian Arabs, there is a possibility of an Indophobic reaction painting Indians as "scary brown people". Also, given that TTL India just nuked an entire nation off the map and the general climate of xenophobia, they might be demonized as "scary Hindus" instead.

If there is an atomic war between India and Pakistan, the major issue is going to be the Pakistanis. Indians displaced by the conflict will have a lot of India that is untouched that they can go to. The Pakistanis, not so much - I expect some in the north will drift over the border to their Pashtun ethnic brothers in Afghanistan. I would not be surprised if there was a real anti-Muslim backlash in India with all sorts of nastiness including Muslims being forced out of India.

The arsenals are big enough to force a state collapse without having to hit everything. In India food production and distribution would collapse, after missing 5 meals people will start moving and not stop. But the problem is that the subcontinent is essentially an island, water to the south, nearly impassable mountains to the north and east, desert to the west. People will board everything that can float and go to Iran, Thailand and Indonesia first.
