So I've noticed that even when we discuss Islam never existing or the Persians triumphing over the Muslims, most of us agree that Zoroastrianism is a "dying religion". Why is that so? Why does Zoroastrianism lose its appeal?

Additionally, if it's less appealing, how could a reformation movement, or even a Christian-style split off cause Zoroastrianism to be appealing once more to both commoners and nobles?
