Reduced, Surviving Roman Empire Outside Italy

I'm curious. Is it possible for a territory outside of Italy to surive and continue as the Roman Empire? Such as Britannia, Hispania, North Africa, Gaul or otherwise.

:D

Yeah, that would indeed by the ERE. The Roman Empire didnt fall until 1453.

The Sultan of Rum would like to point out that Rome did not fall until 1919, it merely had a dynastic crisis.
(But if you mean the WRE, in theory the Franks from 800 on considered themselves the successors of the WRE, while Spain had a short oddity of the king of Leon going by the title of Emperor of Spain)

You all know what I mean. A Surviving WEST Empire Remant :p

What about the usurper Constantine III somehow survives but is still defeated in the south and so instead ends up ruling from Corinium with Britain and parts of northern Gallia?

That'd be a really interesting TL to read, especially the affects on a strong Romano-British culture that than has to deal with successive waves of Anglo-Saxon immigrants and invasions.

Remnants of Rome.

Have Maximus Tiranus succeed with usurping, while at the same time, the Visigoths succeed in taking Italy and the Africa province.

If Basiliscus succeeded in re-taking Carthage from the Vandals, a Roman outpost in North Africa probably could have survived for a long time, and would have been really ironic what with Rome now being Carthage.
