Red Storm Rising spinoffs?

I was playing the Millenium Dawn mod for HOI4 today when it occured to me that the WW3 novel Red Storm Rising would be the perfect source material for some community spinoffs. We already have good information on fighting throughout Europe during the story, there’s no nuclear apocalypse or even a nuclear exchange, and there’s little enough information that the community can fill in the gaps for areas like the Norwegian front, the home front in NATO/WP countries.

The Middle East

Would the Arabs try it on with Israel knowing that it would be extremely hard for the US to help them out while it kicked off in Europe?

S.Korea

North Korea invades S.Korea despite the fact that the US forces based their have not been removed to Europe. They then get help from Japan and Australia. Taiwan gets invaded by China . . . and gets done over from not being able to get US help.

Just a couple of ideas after reading the book.

Regards filers.

This one is the least probable for me. The book specifically mentions that the Pacific theater is quiet other than a cruise missile attack on Diego Garcia. While the US wouldn't have ground forces to commit, one or two Carrier Battle Groups would be more than enough to utterly wreck any PRC amphibious assault.

As for Korea, the US could commit the III MEF on Okinawa to Korea alongside the IV MEF from the US. In the book, I and II MEFs were committed to Norway and Iceland, but no mention was made of III or IV. They could also possibly commit some light infantry forces, maybe the 7th ID? Light infantry won't really be much use in Europe. So you might actually be able to commit the entire XVIII Airborne Corps (10th Mountain, 82d Airborne, 101st Air Assault).

Not to mention when the war starts sputtering to a halt I sure as HELL wouldn't want to be the PRC with my pants down around my legs and Taiwan still screaming for help after rolling a few 6's early in the campaign.

I heard rumors, back in the 1980s about secret US/Taiwan war-games that strongly suggested the Taiwanese could defeat a PRC attempt at sea & the waters edge. Things have changed a lot since then, but the Taiwanese still had in the 1980s a robust infantry army, and a air force configured specifically to deny the intervening sea to any PRC invasion force. The PRC had a army with only a theoretical knowledge of amphibious warfare, little in the way of a blue water navy, and a very small amphib fleet.

US assistance would have been very helpful, but the 'Nationalist' army was supposed to have been still capable of handling the weak PRC power projection strength.
