Red Inferno: 1945 - aftermath?

SPOILER:

The novel Red Inferno: 1945 by Robert Conroy ends with the Soviet Union breaking up after a brief WWIII in 1945.
For those of you who have read the book, what do you think would be the long-term consequences in this TL? No Cold War, the US sole superpower?

Two things:

1) This should be in the Books and Media forum.

2) Spoilers SHOULD be in white-coloured letters to prevent people from laying their eyes on them.

I haven't read the book, so I don't know what the details are. What I feel is that the US would dominate the UN through it's veto power as there is no other superpower to balance it. Furthermore, since it was the only nuclear power at that point in time, other countries would be deterred from pissing off the USA until they get nukes of their own. Chances are, Britain and Canada would have the bomb, since they had scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project.

EDIT:

Also, communism collapses totally. The primary reason for countries turning communist was because of support from the Soviet Union. With the Soviet Union dead and gone, communist countries would collapse along with it as they now no longer have that superpower support.

With the SSSR gone, there won't be a Cold War (the European powers are too busy rebuilding) and the US might return to its pre-war isolationism.
