"Red Dawn"

Hello all, Some of you may have heard of War plan Red. The American Army's "plan" to invade Canada, and its Canadian/British equivalent. Its been pointed out before that these "plans" were more like insurance against Volcanos, chances are you woun't need it but just in case you do you'd be glad to have it. Now obviously the title of this thread reffers to the movie "Red Dawn", a Soviet invasion of North America, so my question is did the Soviets have a plan like red dawn that they never expected to implement?

If they did it was never to hold ground, just kick us outta europe by making us pull out. This assuems we didint isntantly nuke for that reason. keep[p in mind US policy was any invasion of the US or her allies in europe was nuclear war. However even that aside Russia could never hope to hold territory in fact nobody could because of the distances and our navy would just be a problem all day long. Partisans would cause hellish problems for infantry forcing them to fight regular US military and millita's who will pester them the whole route.

I agree. I was more asking if the Soviets just had a contigence plan if any opportunity arose. I've got to admit the concept of Red Dawn interests me. I may even do a TL on it.
