During the Warsaw Uprising the Red Army refused to aid the Polish Home army for political reasons.

Stalin was to have Poland as a communist buffer in case the West ever tried to invade again.

Also on the Vistula was the Soviet backed and created Polish People's Army. It hypothesized that the commander of this force, Zygmunt Berling, had ordered his forces forward to support their Polish brethren but when his Soviet masters found out the offensive was halted and Berling put under house arrest in Moscow until 1947.

So what if the Russians are bit slower in catching on to what is happening and the Polish People's Army goes on the offensive.

The Wehrmacht thinking its the whole Red Army on the attack withdraws to it's next strong line of defense.

As an example of the tail wagging the dog and seeing it as fait accompli the Red Army follows their Polish Army into Warsaw.

A Soviet Polish Army has just helped the Polish Home Army free their capitol, what happens next?

Effects on Post-war Europe?

Probably nothin much change. There was some 200 to 400k AK members across Poland and Soviets managed to deal with them. In Warsaw there was max of some 50 000 insurgents, some of them members of Polish communist resistance. Soviet and Polish army in USSr as well as Polish communist resistance would be given main credit for saving Warsaw after unvise and uncoordinate Uprising started by AK.

Eventually, similarly to Slovak Uprising of 1944 non communist resistance will be marginalized and similarly to Slovak resistance leaders of non communist resistance would be jailed and some executed by Polish communist regime in variouse trails. Poland will be communist and Polish communist Polish united worker's party would be making good show every August when celbrating rising of Warsaw workers against Nazi occupiers. Importand role of Soviet's help to their Polish brothers will be strongly reminded. Only after 1989 role of AK will be publically aknowladged.

It seems if the Polish People's Army did lead the way into Warsaw it seems to mirror the Liberation of Paris.

LeClerc going into the French capital against orders, DeGaulle had to deal with the communists in Paris

A dark mirror but mirror nonetheless
