Reconquista of North Africa

Could a Early Christian unification of Spain(say by the 1100's) lead to Viable crusader states in North Africa or a Spanish conquest of Morocco and Tunis? What would the Long term effects be?

I think that If El Cid had managed to unite Spain against the Alomarvids in 1110's, they easily may have forged a Union of Iberia with Morroco. This would have allowed the Reconquestia, to take them Both.

This would be a great POD

What a great idea for a POD, it would change the entire development of North African, kinking it cloder to Europe.

Could it be done? Maybe, particularly if it is done as Duquense suggests in the 1200's, with the rest of Europe to cursade in the Holy Land. But the problem is the idea of the reconquista had very much to do with the defeat of the moors in spain, what is the equivilant?
