Real life CoD: Modern Warfare

Ok before anyone moans at me for being a Call of Duty fanboy, I'm just a normal casual gamer who happens to know the Modern Warfare storyline.

Anyway, let me introduce the scenario (which I will add to as the discussion evolves if it allows for such additions, and serious ASB/Butterflies/whatever the correct term is will be required throughout):

-There's an ultranationalist revolution in Russia, leading to civil war. On one side you have the government loyalist forces, supported by the west, up against the Ultranationalists.
-The Ultranationalists have huge finances and bankroll a coup in a middle eastern country (this is never named in game, but for arguments sake lets pick Iraq as they've been fairly unstable since 2003).
-The Ultranationalists are winning the civil war and capture a nuclear weapons facility. One of the weapons is supplied to the leaders of the coup in Iraq.

For now, I'll cut it off here. How would the west respond? What would they so to prevent nuclear war? Bear in mind the revolutionaries in Iraq are Islamist and staunch anti-westerners, much like their Ultranationalist bank rollers. In the game, the US invades Iraq. Would the same thing happen here?

As I said, I'll add in bits of the original storyline to fit as this discussion evolves.
