Within
8 years u.s. prestige home and aboard had gotten much better.for the first time since 1940 a president would seek a third term a clear warm day in Washington d.c. president Reagan declared he would run for a third term.

The democrats nominate their man for 88!
Lloyd
Bentson was a senator serving the great state of Texas since 1971 and in 1988 he received the democratic nomination. "For 8 year"s we had a Republican in office hiking the military budget and ignoring the middle class .welif you vote for me the middle class will no longer be ignored. poll"s showed Reagan in the lead but only by 5 points Reagans age and health was a concern for many voters.

' ladies and gentle men i forgot why i came here!" The crowd at the rally laughed but president Reagan was depending more and more on handlers and vice president Bush would do most of the work if Reagan got his 2nd term .Lloed Bentson was storming the nation campaigning for president hoping to be the first democratic president since carter to be the democratic .senator Bentson picked john Glenn to be his running mate and hoped they could pull a victory out.
business man Henry Ross Perot was running a third part ticket with Dan Choate and was picking up much support from voters tired of Democratic and republican supporters.,

This requires the 22nd to NOT be passed in the first place. I think that it is possible that other Presidencies could go as otl up to 88

However health issues and Iran contra could make the election less clear cut

It would have been increasingly difficult to hide Reagan's Alzheimer's had he run for a third term. At best, he gets elected and is either forced to resign in about a year or Bush and the Cabinet are forced to declare a Presidential Incapacitation under the 25th Amendment

Either the 22nd doesn’t exist at this point or Reagan says, “fuck it, I’m running anyway and let the Supreme Court stop me if I get elected.” I’m actually curious what would happen if someone as popular as Reagan at the time had decided to run for a third term (Reagan himself would be a poor choice because of his age and his condition; my actual first thought would be Clinton if the Lewinsky stuff blows over and Elian Gonzalez goes the other way and the country can’t stomach Bush or Gore.)

My first thought is that, with the existence of the 22nd, no third-term seeker could possibly get enough votes, and states would put the brakes on ballot access. But let’s just say that a candidate, say, Ronald Clinton, gets elected in a massive write-in campaign because the two major candidates both colossally suck. He gets to the magic number of 270, and all of a sudden, the EC has a quandary - follow the will of the people or do something else? Would they be forced to award their votes to the second-highest vote-getter? And what if the EC follows he popular vote and tries to give Ronnie C a third term? How the shit does SCOTUS sort it out? I can’t imagine a normal Court awarding anyone a third term, but picking the actual winner would be an insane mess for which the Constitution has no real answer.

Ronald Reagan HAD WON A HISTORIC THIRD TERM THE FIRST SINCE THE DAYS OF F.D.R
ButReagan was suffering from Alzheimer and had to rely on Vice president BUSH TO HANDLE white house duties

Reagan attempting to run for a third term would immediately set off alarms about his mental health (unless the 22nd amendment had been successfully repealed by the time of his announcement). He would be subjected to an intense mental exam and could be impeached if the Alzheimer's had been detected and he refused to resign.

The 22nd amendment has to be dealt with; the Republican National Committee is NOT going to nominate someone whose candidacy is constitutionally invalid.

As much as I did like Reagan as president his second term almost ended this way his third one definitely would it would be the same ending that the TV show st. Elsewhere had with snow globe at the end.
