Our story – and Ronald Reagan’s political career – began on November 17, 1947. Reagan had been a key player in setting up Americans for Democratic Action in California. Now Wilson Wyatt, the National Chair, wanted to talk to him. We do not know what exactly took place in that meeting, held in Reagan’s home, but we do know this: Wyatt asked Reagan to run for Congress.
Thinking about it, the decision makes sense; more people needed to represent the interests of the anti-communist left, and Reagan was an active member of ADA, along with being well-known. So the decision to run him in the 13th District, against popular Republican incumbent C. Norris Poulson, was perfectly logical. But would Reagan run? He was making money and, Wyatt thought, wouldn’t want to leave his acting career. But run Reagan did, and the rest is history.

Okay, so that's just a VERY short introduction. This will be an actually serious TL, as opposed to my other one.
