"What is your name, soldier?"
"Albert, Albert from Ravensburg, your imperial majesty."
Kaiser Franz II to a common officer, 1802

“The Frank’s continuous aggression toward The Reich are a testament of their savageness, we will crush them to the point that their first instinct towards us are submission.”
Albrecht von Ravensburg, Reichskanzler, 1915.2.15

“As long as there is a single Frenchman and a single German beast standing, there will be no peace between us. Vive la Francia!”
Henri Philippe Pétain, President of Freedom France, 1915.2.14

Prologue:
Did you hear that? The laughter of your daughter, playing with her beloved daddy.

You didn’t, the sound of artillery shells had long filled your ears, the scream of wounded are the only music undulate in this living hell.

Did you smell that? The fragrance of roast chicken, your wife cost her entire week of salary to prepare that just for you.

You didn’t, the pungent of gunpowder and blood had long dulled your nose, the stench of infected wound are driving your sense crazy.

Did you see that? The flag of The Great Reich, flag of your fatherland, the black-yellow-black flag that dominate the world?

You didn’t, death had filled your eyes, your comrades’ despairing face had burned into your mind.

Did you remember that? The Reichskanzler’s promise, everyone would return to home before Easter?

You didn’t, the reaper’s claw had fallen from the sky, the chilling death paled your vision, winter came.

The angels are calling, they are calling you home.

You won’t return to home.

Disclaimer: since the PoD was back in 1777 (someone borned), I think I should post it here.

Hello, this is my first timeline that originate from this: https://www.alternatehistory.com/fo...pinion-about-this-alt-history-country.408698/

This timeline will focus on the German-French feud that drag entire Europe into bloody war. I'm not sure if I should post it here or after 1900, since the PoD were way back at 1777. All comments are welcome, this would be a slow update.

If I'm not mistaken, the criteria for threads is the PoD used. If the PoD is before 1900, technically is in this correct forum. If the PoD is after 1900, it must be on another one.

However, I suggest, just for clarification (lest someone reports the thread) that you put a disclaimer in the OP (the first post) to explain that the PoD is in the 18th Century. In fact, going even far, I suggest that you put at least a very brief description of the PoD in the first post, even if you actually focus on the ATL WW1.

Hope to have helped, keep going!

1806.12.2

After the final gunshot, silence has fallen onto the battlefield, it is not known if that pitiful gunner has fled or murdered.

The relentless snow blocked the sun, covered the scents of blood, but failed to stop their steady pace. Looking around, there’s only scattered dead and abandoned cannons and flags. The cavalry battalion held high their blue-white-red tricolor flags, personally led by their emperor, let the hoofs step through the deceased enemy soldiers and their flags.

Until a single person stepped in front of them.

Holding pistol in his right hand and a double eagle flag clutching in his left hand. The milk white colonel uniform tattered with dirt and cuts, and the grand cross medal on his chest also covered in scratch. Hat were gone, revealing the messy brown hair. Bloodshot filled his eyes, face distorted by fear and hatred. He raised his shivering arm, with the pistol aiming at the French emperor.

The guards immediately came up to defend their emperor, but was stopped by him. With a trace of sneer on his face, he silently look at the colonel, provoking him.

Trigger pulled, the expected gunshot did not happen, only the sound of gun jam, the snow has long seeped into gunpowder, impossible to fire. The pistol dropped, accompanied by the colonel’s knees, there is only despair left on his face.

“Humph.”

Sneered, the emperor rode forward, but did not take his life, he bypassed the already distraught colonel, even with his soldiers. The contemptuous look on their face were the deepest insult to him.

Perhaps he could not stand such humiliation anymore, he once again raised his pistol, but this time, aiming to his jaw. The colonel clenched his teeth, and pulled the trigger.

Another jam, accompanied by thousands of uncontrolled laughter.

(P.S. sorry for the bad grammar.)
