Hello!
I must apologize, as my days of being a lurker are finally done. I have with me an accurate-as-possible table of rank
names for the ranks of the Russian army ca. 1822... though it doesn't appear as though ranks, or at least a concept of enlisted advancement and whatnot weren't in place until after 1822 itself (you were generally considered just a typical ranker without any real special designation in your line if I'm not mistaken).
So, I'm in a bit of a stalemate. I'd be wondering what a good source might be to actually take a look at these post-1822 rank badges, if they at all exist. Generally, anything before 1840 would work in terms of a shoulder patch denoting one's rank. My main goal is to stick as close to the Napoleonic Wars as possible, and obviously, as much as I would love to, I can't simply use the 1900+ army ranks in use during the first world war.
Anyway, I apologize if I'm not being clear enough. A good example of what I'm looking for is simply the insignia on the far right in this article (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Russian_Army#Ranks_and_rank_insignia), though I'm only wondering if insignia such as that exist much closer to the Napoleonic era - and what those insignia look like. The names of the ranks themselves don't matter too much.
If you'd be interested in helping me out with this, feel free to ask for any more details. Cheers!
