Railway Development in Failed American Revolution BNA?

Was going past the Pacific Central Station and thought of how the railway system would develop in a British North American that had north and east of Mexico at the time of its independence. Given that the continent is virtually unified from the Arctic to the Caribbean and from the Atlantic to Pacific, I am not sure how more active or passive the building of the railways would be. Any thoughts?

Without Canadian nationalism as a driving force, the railroad along the northern shore of Lake Superior could be dispensed with.

That's one thing I was wondering about. Would BC have the same sort of political capital to force a "Canadian Pacific Railway"? Unlikely given the population, unless we have territorial disputes or something.
