If the US were to lose the civil war, how would race relations in the USA proceed? And how would this compare to OTL race relations in the Northern US (and OTL northern US only for this discussion).
I could see INITIALLY some resentment that the issue helped shatter the Union.
BUT slavery is still going to be considered increasingly barbaric as time goes on, so, imo that would quickly diminish.
Better Civil Rights would be one way to show up the neighbors.
AND without the Grand Migration, the numbers of blacks in the North will be far lower, thus making it far easier for people to NOT feel their status might be threatened by equality.
