Quivira, Nova Albion, and the Straits of Anian

I like old maps, and I like how one of the last parts to have been colored in was where I live now, in the Pacific Northwest. It haunts me. I have a recurring city in my dreams, and I have recently come to suspect that that city may well be a port on the Straits of Anian - the fabled Northwest Passage.

Maybe I should be posting this on ASB, but I'm looking (probably hopelessly) for a non-ASB POD to help me all make sense of it all, as well as suggestions for an ATL that could take it into the present day.

Sorry for the weird request

Given the way you've presented your querry, this should be posted in the ASB forum. However, with a POD before Cook, Vancouver and Mackenzie each destroyed the Strait of Anian myth during the 18th Century, you could develop a story about someone searching for the fabled strait - perhaps Vitus Bering or William Baffin.

I know, it really is more of an ASB request - maybe I should do a crosspost. Is that bad form?

Regarding discovery, I have this weird vision of Hudson, marooned in his longboat, being rescued by a ship bound east from Fousang.
