Questions About Megacorporation

How exactly a megacorporation dominate a country (or many countries)? And how would they treat the population in those countries? This question is for a corporate US, but you can take examples using other countries.
Lastly, can a megacorporation be environmentally-friendly instead the opposite?

Thanks in advance!

I believe Banana republics would be a good example. Small countries basically ruled by one or a few large corporations that ran an industry that the country was completely dependent on.

Theoretically. Just like how theoretically, after a socialist revolution the worker's will set up a paradise and the state shall wither away. A megacorporation can't really be environmentally friendly unless it is a dictatorship run by a very, very devoted environmentalist. A company can possibly be green (it is much easier if the company is into solar power or nuclear power, etc.), but even so they're going to probably do something bad that will cut costs. Frex, each Prius engine that is built damages the environment much more than a non-Prius car ever would at the same amount used. Megacorporations are going to have more than one area of focus, so they will end up harming the environment in some areas even if they compensate, so they can make more money more easily.
