Question:Was Liu Bei really a descendant of Liu Bang?

I've read quite a number of posts elsewhere alleging that Liu Bei falsified his ancestry.Just wondering about the opinions of others.

He was a member of Liu family but as far as I can tell rather distant.

He's a member of the Liu family, but was it THAT Liu family,as in the imperial clan?I have seen quite a number of people claiming that he simply falsified his ancestry and that he isn't the descendant of ANY emperor, not even the early ones.

It depends on who you hear, if it is from Wuists and Weists who would be willing to make that claim to discredit Shu by attacking Liu Bei, then I would take it with a grain of salt. A quick wiki look says he could either be a descendant of Liu Yan brother of Emperor Guangwu, so not descended from the main line that ruled the Eastern Han, or descended from Emperor Jing.

Liu Bei's line of descent might exist, but if it did then it dates back at around ~300 years (although there is debate). I'm of the opinion that it did exist, but is tenuous enough that a lot of people should have been members of the Imperial Clan than were IOTL that if we went by his definition.
