Question: Was FDR able to walk in 1944

Hell,

I've question about th health of FDR.
Was he able to walk in the 1st month of 1944? Or was in weel-chair at full time?
I'm preparing an artwork for my story bu I want to be sure about if is able to stand up or not and if is heath status permit him to travel to asia.

As usual, thanks for helping.

He could stand and move by locking his legs and sort of twisting his hips but by that point he might not even be able to do that. He was actually all but crippled by the result of Polio and while he kept up a successful front for a long time he could not get very far at all under his own power. If he'd been President nowadays he would never have been able to keep the illness hidden but I think he managed to stand up for all his state of the Union addresses bar the last so he probably could at least stand in '44.

Anybody of any rank in Washington seems to have known the truth but it was hidden from the public by simple tricks like him being stood up before the audience was allowed in for a speech.

In his earlier years, Roosevelt would "walk" into a building by being in a tight group of men. And the man on either side would tightly grip his own forearm with his other hand, and then Franklin would brace himself on the forearm of each man to his side. And he would lift up his chin and smile, probably still with cigarette and cigarette holder in his mouth. And people admired his pluck and courage. And even if people wondered about his health problems, probably not knowing the full extent, they still admired his optimism, his joy of life, etc.

I'm not sure if he was still able to do this in 1944.
