Question: Population of France

I can't seem to find anywhere a historical population count for france in the mid 19th century. In particular I need a population count for 1848 around the time of the revolution. If I could also get numbers for Germany and Italy in the same year that would be fantastic.

At the time France's population would've likely been 36.2 million.
It was 36,000,097 in 1846 and 36,472,000 in 1851.

The Italian states together had about 24 million whie Germany had around 34 milllion from what I can find.

I don't know about the German or Italian lands, but I can give some rough estimates;

The Italian states together I'd say would likely have been only a few million fewer than France, so say 32 million.

The German states (IE only the parts in the German Confederation) I think was slightly more populous, so Id estimate 38 million or so.

Those sound like good numbers.

I'ld also like to ask, if it is possible, for what percentage of the male population would would fall under being Conservative, Moderate, or Radical?

My estimates for Italy and Germany were of, I've corrected them base don what I could find, so all three should be more or less correct.

I have no idea.

About a quarter of the french population could vote (adult males) and there was a turnout of 83,3% (7 million and then some) at the 1848 legislatives. It does help that they were over two days. The socialists got 9% of the seats (80 of 880), the legitimists got 23% of the seats (200 out of 880), the moderate republicans got 68% of the seats (600 out of 880), but I lack exact numbers for the actual voting results.

However, in the 1849 elections, the royalists were now united as one faction, and won 53% of the vote and 450 of the seats, against 11% for the moderate republicans (75 seats) and 25% for the new Montagnard party (socialists, 180 seats). I have no idea what the turnout was.
