Question on the British Royal Family

My question is, if Prince Alexander John of Wales weren't premature, and survives, what would his position have been in the royal family, all other things being the same? Which titles would he have held, as well as his wife?

Would they have become king/queen some day or just Princes/Princesses?

He would initally have been fourth in line to the throne, after his father (later Edward VII), and his elder brothers, the Duke of Clarence and the future George V.

After Clarence's death he would have moved up to third, but thereafter dropped steadily further down as children (and later grandchildren) were born to Prince George and Princess Mary.

AJ could only become King if George left no legitimate descendants. He and his wife would be styled Prince and Princess, and he would also probably receive a Dukedom at some point - possibly Clarence, as Prince Eddy had left no heirs.

I see. So, it wouldn't really have too big a ripple. He'd just become Duke of Clarence and that's about it.

It looks like Prince Albert Victor was the Duke of Clarence and Avondale till 1892, so I would guess it would pass to AJ afterwards.

Theo only way he could become a King is if has chosen to rule over one of the new Balkan countries. Or he could (potentially) become Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Other then those, no chance.

Random question: are those ducal titles heritable?

Yes and No. When Prince Albert Victor died, the Duchy of Clarence reverted to the crown. However, there's nothing stopping Queen Victoria (the monarch at the time) from either re-granting this title to Prince Alexadner John or (more likely) creating a new title for him. The new title, such as Duke of Gloucester, would be hereditary in the male line. If Alexander died childless or sonless however, the title would again revert to the crown.

Ah, ok. I was just wondering if those ducal titles could be passed down to the prince's offspring like other ducal titles.
