One thing that makes the period from about 250 until 390 and Julians reign in particular problematic from an AH standpoint is people seem to have wildly different perceptions of Julian's chances as well as exactly how Christian the empire was at a given time.
My perception is if Julian lives 20 years and is succeeded by a Pagan, Christianity never again gets Imperial patronage, most upperclass people who convert go back to being pagan and gradually Christians go down to being 20℅ of the population at most and its near success means the post Julian establishment is prepared in the future to deal with cults who get out of hand.
I've heard others say that Christianization after around 250 is inevitable or that Constantine was bowing to public pressure from below when he started to support Christianity. Both are absurd IMHO to the point of being beyond ASB.
But I'm sure someone just found my analysis ASB, which I think is part of why there aren't more Julian TLS.
Opinion of the "reality" on the ground is so divided, someone will scream ASB no matter what you write.
