Question about Martin Bormann

I have been reading a lot of very contradictory information. Some of it saying he was for sure "werther" (code name) part of the "lucy" network. Some staying that he only became active after Bormann became Party Secretary after Hess flew to Scotland. Others call it ludicrous. I thought I would ask since we have some experts here.

If he was, that has to be the greatest intelligence coup in history. Was he a spy?

I don’t believe it, but that’s mainly due to the desricptors I've seen lead me to doubt he would be the source for the information.

My money would be on a military man, most likely Fellgiebel, Olbricht or Oster or someone like that.

Thanks for the reply.

I actually read a theory the other day about Fellgiebel, the author dismissed it as "fantasy" .

The whole Bormann thing just doesn’t scan for me.

If he’s anti-Nazi, secretly working his way to the top to better access information, why do so much to facilitate the success of the Nazis? What’s his endgame?

Some of this comes from Gehlen of course. He accused Bormann of not being on the up and up. The British also were quite invested in the "Bormann was a Soviet spy" routine. The thing I think that convinces me is that Bormann didn't make it out of Berlin. He takes a Nazi sleeping pill when he runs into a tank.

I would have thought that there would have been a NKVD team to sprint to Moscow.
