Point of Divergence ... In 221 BC, the First Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, unified the seven warring states of Qin, Chu, Han, Wei, Zhao, Qi, and Yan into a unified empire, then know as Xi' An, but later to become known as China. Qi Shi Huang was smart, taking advantage of such things as natural disasters to enable him to conquer the other six of the Warring States.
What if for arguments sake Qi Shi Huang was unable to unite the Seven Warring States under his rule? Would he simply have remained the King of Qin, or would someone else have eventually attempted to unify China under their rule? How does this impact world history?
