Prussian Victory at Jena-Auerstedt

After lurking around at this site for quite a while without contributing, i thought that it was about time i started to work on a TL of my own:) The POD surmises a Prussian victory or at the very least a draw at the battles of Jena and Auerstedt. How they do that is of cource another question which i aim to answer, with the decisive difference at Jena being that instead of waiting around passively when Napoleon moves Lannes from the french center to assist the eneveloped Ney, they seize the initiative and push against the weakened french center. As for Auerstedt i havent really elaborated on that yet but i i will get to it as soon as i have Jena nailed down:)

Help, suggestion and constructive criticism are always appreciated and rewarded by his Lordship:cool:

Aurstadt is simple, pin Davout's third corps with a frontal attack by equal numbers of infantry, then envelope both his flanks with your remaining Infantry and vastly superior cavalry. (superior in number and quality man for man) It would be a tough fight, but without the assistance of Bernadotte, or Ney, Davout is done for! How Davout ever won that battle given the odds he faced is a miracle, and illustrates the mans genius for training and effective leadership. How the Prussians ever lost Aurstadt is beyond the whit of man!

Jena is a different matter, Napoleon outnumbered the Prussian Army. Here the Prussian Guards will have to be committed at an early stage if the lead elements of the Emperors Corps are to be stopped. The Prussian Guards might have to get their uniforms dirty! also, if Aurstadt is won, Ney and Bernadotte are then at risk of isolation - the Prussians at Aurstadt split their victorious force - some acting as an observation corps keeping Bernadotte and Ney at a distance from Jena - the rest (especialy the cavalry) piling in to help get the froggies bundled back down the hill - Revenge for Saalfeld and Prince Louis Ferdinand!

Queen Louise would have sorted it! "Vorwarts mine liddle liebshens, tomorrow ve vill dine at the Corsicans expense! Fix zu bayonets unt charge!" "Unt by ze vay, ve vill pay the dry Kleening bilz for der dirty uniforms!"
At this the Prussian Garde (sorry - Guard) all cheer and break out the schnapps! They have won already!!!

Thanks! Great way to get started:) I cannot find a source that describes the battles as good as you do, most of the material i find are just rough overviews! Maybe im not good enough at searching or perhaps i am not looking where i should:p Btw any chance of you resuming your TL Colonel?:)

You could have that Saxon Priest who showed Napoleon's generals the route to the plateau dying, or deciding not to show the French the route. I am not sure if that would change the outcome of Jena, but who knows.
