Prussia buys Alaska in 1867

That was taken from Westphalian's original post that I included. My response, which was in bold type, stated that colonial transfer was perfectly acceptable.

Yes, my fault.
I was rather sure that most descriptions of "Manifest Destiny" encompassed all of North America, and thus also Alaska. While typing, I first wrote it down as MD and a brainfart morphed that later into Monroe Doctrine when I decided to expand the abbreviation. Because it might be misleading.
*sigh*

And many thanks for everyone who confirmed that Prussia's goal during the 1860s was not mindless expansion into every place possible.

It's hard to imagine the Germans wanting Alaska, but ultimately not a lot changes until the Great War, when the Dominion of Canada invades and annexes German Alaska, as the British Empire did with all other German Imperial possessions.

A bigger can of worms than the other German territories in the Pacific & China. Japan is going want some & the Russians have their agenda. Lots of opportunity for building foundations of future relations there.
