Hi there,
I had a question regarding Siam and Prussian diplomatic relations in the 1880's and around.
At this time, Siam was being squeezed between France and the UK and kept as a kind of buffer zone between the two.
There are reports/rumours around 1887 of Prussian diplomatic missions going through the Vietnam highlands to reach out to the Montagnards tribes and even though they're believable they're not substantiated.
At this stage, the UK was, I believe, closer to Prussia than to France. However, Prussia was emphatically not a colonial power and I assume the UK would like to keep it that way as it's already a land power and Siam was very rich.
Siam on the other hand, might look to become a Protectorate of Prussia so they're not double teamed by France and the UK anymore which are massive and continuous threats to its territorial integrity.
If Siam was to become a protectorate, or close to Prussia, France would of course be livid but how do you think the UK would react?
Cheers,
