But what about those years then? Why are they mentioned here?

I guess the supposed meaning was “borders as agreed at the date …” or something like that.

Map of the Republic of China's Mongolian Area, from 1933. OTL, China never controlled Outer Mongolia, even though it claimed it.

I found this meme, though I'm not sure of the veracity. It's actually a nice shaped border, anyone got a patch for that?

As an Argentinian I can tell you that previous to the Conquest of the Desert and the establishment of official borders in Patagonia, both Chile and Argentina claimed all of it. For logistical reasons, Chile never managed to cross the Andes and settle there. However, it's not uncommon to see Chilean textbooks that show all of Patagonia as being part of Chile.
If you were to make a map of this, it would be more like a claim than actual control.

Chile never controlled all of Patagonia, but did claim it. Argentina also claimed all of Patagonia up to the peaks of the Andes. Also this map shows several provinces that were never under Chile's control.

I do know this, I just think it’d be a nice worlda patch for alt-history purposes.

Let us remember that Chile sacrificed Patagonia in order to have their beautiful, elongated shape we enjoy.

But then it isn't long and beautiful. Big or long, that is the question.

It will be just as long, but now it will also be more beautiful with that all that Patagonia.

But it won't be long and skinny. If Chile takes Patagonia, it will have to take the rest of Hispanic America to make up for its weight gain (won't complain about that).
