The loss of Indefatigable, Queen Mary and Invincible was down to the magazine handling practices used by the gun crews on these ships at the 'suggestion' of the Admirals to increase the rate of fire.
If the proper practices were in operation they would have had destroyed turrets but should have survived, at least that hit.
If the suggestion had not been made or the ships captains outright refused to use them, what effect would these three ships have on how the battle is viewed?
Would it be realised that the ships have had a lucky escape and so put an end to any ideas of relaxed handling practices?
What effect would it have on future designs?
