Prominent US officers live to fight another day

Inspired by an encyclopedia I read at the State Library today on US military leaders- WI the following officers who were OTL killed in action or by unfortunate accident actually somehow survived ?
Leslie McNair (Normandy, 1944)
William O. Darby (Italy, 1945)
Maurice Rose (Germany, 1945)
Simon Bolivar Buckner jnr (Okinawa, 1945)
Bull Keerans (Tunisia 1943- MIA- his body was never found, he was the highest-ranking US officer to be MIA in WWII)
William Edwin Dyess (P-38 Lightning accident, 1943)
Tommy McGuire (Philippines, 1945)
Richard Bong (P-80 Shooting Star accident)
James Jabara (1966, car accident)

Can any-1 think of any other additions to this list ?

Actually I doubt that much of anything would change. The most interesting would be Darby and how his influence after the war as regards commando/special forces units.

Probably becomes at least presidential candidate in JFK's place, maybe a term or two earlier than him
