He is elected as a Labour MP in 1906, say for the double-member constituency of Norwich in tandem with a Liberal. He becomes Labour Chief Whip in 1910, and is elected Deputy Leader of the party in 1912. He supports Britain's involvement in the First World War (he did so in OTL) and is elected leader of the party when Ramsay McDonald resigns because of his opposition to the war. Asquith appoints him to his cabinet when he forms a coalition government in May 1915. Lloyd George gives him a post in his war cabinet when he becomes Prime Minister in December 1916. He resigns from the cabinet at the end of the war. The results of the general elections of 1918, 1922 and 1923 are as in OTL. In January 1924 he becomes Prime Minister of a minority Labour government with Liberal Party support in the House of Commons.
