Rather than attempt to ressurect an old thread, I thought that I would offer my own take on the issue. This is just a preliminary outline which I will flesh out with dates and references later.

Senator McCain nominates Governor Palin to be his Vice Presidential candidate.

Governor Palin deliverers her rousing speach at the Republican National Convention. The Republican ticket surges in the polls.

Senator McCain actually takes time to brief Governor Palin on his foreign policy positions prior to the Katie Couric interview. Better preparred to speak without contradicting McCain, Governor Palin responds to the "Bush Doctrine" question by asking which of the various facets of the Bush Doctrine Couric is referring to. When Couric is unable to define the Bush Doctrine more precisely, Governor Palin responds by articulating her own, somewhat isolationist ideas that have become known as the Palin Doctrine.

The Mortgage crises becomes critical. Senator McCain suspends his campaign to work on the mortgage crises.

Governor Palin goes rogue. Rather than suspend her campaign, she continues her campaign. Defying her political handlers, Governor Palin goes on an unscheduled bus tour through the Rust Belt of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinoise and Wisconsin as well as the Dakotas which are the future of energy production. Governor Palin aggressively advocates her own, well documented vision of revitalizing America's economy by developing American energy to power American industry. Unwilling to suffer the humilation of reprimanding his running mate, McCain pretends to be to focused on the mortgage crisis to intervene.

Channelling the themes explored in the book Architects of Ruin by Peter Schwitzer (which Palin actually bankrolled), Gov Palin demands that the TARP should be structured to help responsible barrowers who had purchased with significant equity, to remain in their homes rather than just bail out the big banks. This populist rhetoric resonates with blue collar voters, resulting in an even greater surge in the polls. Not being completely stupic, Senator McCain incorporates these themes in the TARP legislation.

The Presidential debates occur. Just to mix things up, Governor Palin challenges Senator Obama to debate her for one debate while McCain debates Liberman. During her debate with Senator Obama, Governor Palin challenges him to a game of one on one basketball. Being an avid jogger and in superb physical condition as well as a former championship player, Sarah kicks Barack's ass all over the court.

The McCain / Palin ticket wins the election by a five point margin.

The newly innaugerated President McCain "dies in his sleep" during his first day in office. In deference to Cindy McCain, it is not revealed that the President died from an overdose of Vigra.

A young, inexperienced Vice President Palin is sworn in as the new President.

Seeking to avoid mistakes, President Palin concentrates on the issues that she knows best, energy policy. President Palin aggressively promotes development ofoil and gas using the new, hard rock, hydraulic fracturing technology. President Palin also negotistes with Exxon's CEO Rex Tillerson and other energy companies to develop her vision of an Alaska natural gas pipeline.

President Palin has an epiphany for developing and marketing Alaskan natural gas. She invites Vladimir Putin for a moose and elk hunt at her family's rustic cabin in Alaska. The US Secret Service and their Russian counterparts defecate masonry. Being a real man, Putin accepts. While gutting and skinning an Alaskan brown bear (which both had shot simultaneously) President Palin and President Putin negotiate a deal to build a pipeline from Alaska's North Slope across the Bearing Sea then a gas pipeline and an oil pipeline down the Kamchaka Pennisula and the Saklin Islands to Japan, then on to South Korea and Taiwan. American energy companies will assist Russia in exploring and developing oil and gas in Siberia to serve Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

Unlike President Obama, President Palin supports rather than betrays the Green Revolution in Iran. A more moderate coalition government comes to power.

Without incitement from Hillary Clinton's State Department, a far less virulent version of the Arab Spring erupts in Tunesia, Libya and Egypt.. A better informed President Palin returning from the India Today conference and a metting with Israeli PM Netanyahu resists calls for betraying the disarmament agreement with Gaddaffy by imposing a No Fly Zone. President Palin negotiates a compromise in Libya and Egypt. As part of the compromise, America will help fund a massive infrastructure project to divert water from the Mediterranean to the Quattara depression as well as irrigation water from the Nile to surrounding farm land. This creates an opportunity for a massive, 100 Gigawatt capacity hydroelectric generation plant to support industrial development.

Encouraged by President Palin's honoring America's tacit commitment to Gadaffy, the moderate government in Iran negotiates to surrender its WMD and cease supporting insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.

President Palin defies conventional wisdom by retaliating to continued unrest in Iraq incited by Turkey and themassacre of Kurdish refuggess by Turkish troops by suspending involvement by Turkey in the F-35 program and ceases supplying parts for F-16s. Edrogen retaliates by withdrawing from Nato.
